Lightning Strike During Thunderstorm Starts House Fire In Stratford

Lightning struck the chimney of a multi-story Stratford home, starting a fire in the attic.

The incident took place late in the afternoon on Wednesday, July 17, when the lightning strike hit the home at 1790-1792 Main St., said Stratford Fire Deputy Chief Brian Lampart.

Under the command of Assistant Chief Steve Alesevich and even with the challenging weather conditions, the fire was under control and extinguished by firefighters within 30 minutes of arrival with no reported injuries, Lampart said.

Nichols Fire Department provided assistance with responding to other emergency calls during this incident.
